New look, new style, new name – same great product.
November 16th, 2020 is a big day for us: We are letting go of our old brand name DivDot – which really only is the remnant of a previous business model – and launching our refreshed, more meaningful brand: MazumaGo.
In this new brand, we want to express our approach to modern payments and emphasize our mission:
“To make business payments move – to move faster and to move easier.”
Over the past few months (yes months) we have spent a lot of time planning and building our new brand. Throughout this process, we were working with the experienced team at One Net Marketing Inc. to lead us through a well thought out renaming, rebranding and design project. In this blog post, we want to share with you our rationale behind the updates, and what they represent for our company and you.
**Our product remains the same trusted, sophisticated payments platform our customers have come to love, we are simply giving it a new and improved look.**
DivDot started years ago as a marketplace for local services, but speaking with hundreds of business owners, our founders Matthew Smith, Nick Addison and James Davidson realized there was a bigger problem.
Regardless of size, most businesses were still using cheques to send and receive payments. They kept coming back to the same question:
“Why is it so hard to send money online?”
So they decided to focus exclusively on building a simple way for businesses to move money. Modern businesses deserve modern payments.
With MazumaGo, we built a simple solution that speaks directly to the daily frustrations of moving money. No more wire transfers, no more cheques, no more bullsh*t. We don’t shy away from making strong statements, especially when it comes to our product. It’s a no-nonsense interface for your money, but with style.
You shouldn’t be expected to trust a system where you have to hope something happens behind the scenes. You don’t need to sit back and accept the status-quo. MazumaGo builds trust by offering transparency. After all, it is your money that goes through our system and you deserve to know what’s going on.
We want to empower you to handle your payments your way, without having to rely on a system you know nothing about.
Money is emotional and moving it is too. It is our goal to remove the stress of making sure a payment goes right, and enable you to become the champion of your business who can execute payments flawlessly. Every time.
Our customers’ success stories are our biggest wins and we wouldn’t be MazumaGo if we didn’t celebrate those wins. Our customers’ feedback is what keeps us going and helps us to continuously improve. Our company has always prioritized making it easier to move money, fast, so our new name had to convey a sense of energy around modern business payments. We also wanted to include the elements of function and trust.
In the end, we landed on MazumaGo. “Mazuma” is a slang name for “money”. “Go” conveys simplicity and movement. Together they create an edge over more traditional business payments solutions.
Our new logo further supports this simplicity and energy as a derivative of the old DivDot logo. The two sides emphasize both sending and receiving in a minimalist and efficient way. Bring $$$ in, send $$$ out – it’s as simple as that.
Our tagline re-emphasizes the movement and action we want to bring into a stale payments industry. By framing it in an imperative form, we want to encourage you to take control of your payments yourself. With MazumaGo, anyone can make business payments move.
Bringing vision across the brand
You might wonder about the strange mix of dinosaur and space shuttle line drawings with 1950’s style images throughout our website.
The old school photography is our way of adding a humorous comparison to the old way of doing things. For us, it is hard to believe that in our digital world, it is not uncommon for businesses to make a payment via a paper cheque. We’re here to put an end to tedious paper work and endless routing numbers. It is our goal to eliminate any reasons why people would want to use cheques ever again.
With the diagram style line drawings, we try to mirror the technicality of our product and explain how things work in an illustrative way. We do this to support the transparency behind our processes, but we also don’t want to bore or confuse you with all the technical details.
